We are holding a special fundraising Coffee Morning on Saturday the 19th July from 10am to 12 noon – to support the wonderful work of the GLOVE Project in The Gambia. Sadly there are many child amputees in The Gambia – either as a consequence of conflict, or poor healthcare. There is no government assistance for those children, who are frequently marginalised, ostracised, socially isolated or even abandoned. The charity’s amputee programme started in 2019, with the aim of working to ensure that these children are accepted by their families as worthwhile members of the family unit, and accepted by their peers, by their local communities and by society at large. The GLOVE project helps by helping to enable the fitting of new prosthetics, and continuing with proper rehabilitation thereafter.
